Natures turn…….

Tip Toe

Sometimes when I need a little boost I review my American Avocet file.  I really like watching these delicate and graceful birds as they move around.  Bolivar flats is a special place for shorebirds.  You just have to be patient and wait and then maybe, just maybe, you get lucky as they come close.

Looking Back

Recently made my first trip to High Island Smith Oaks Rookery.  The weatherman and my phone app had a beautiful morning in the making and I wanted to get there early to catch some backlighting captures.  I arrived early enough to take a short nap.  As I looked up toward the sky I could see the stars and thought – Oh Yeah.

Forgot my small flashlight so out comes the iPhone to help guide me.  The trail is so dark you couldn’t see with out some type of light.  Made my way to the platform I wanted to shoot from and set up.  Hmmm, I asked myself where is the light.  I looked up from under the covered platform and there was a thick cloud cover.  Whoa, but the weatherman said….  About an hour after sunrise and still fairly dark I decided to leave.  This capture of a Snowy reminded me of what perhaps we both were looking for…The Sun.

Eagle Visit

I have been trying to visit a local eagle nest in Pearland, Texas.  By the time I get off work it’s a rush to get there in time for a little light.  Since I’m usually late it’s a hit or miss to see any action.  This day was a hit as one of the parents flew in with the eaglets dinner.  With two growing eaglets to feed your chances of seeing some flight time is better.

Ohhh – So Hot

Brought a smile to my face when I saw this Romeo.  Most of the birds showed some signs of molting but this guy had them all beat.  He didn’t look pretty but at 103F he must have felt cooler.

Hello world!

As a young man I enjoyed boat racing and photography. But, both were expensive and had to let them go. After many years I was able to start photographing again, and what better than something I missed – boat racing.

I joined a photo club and was turned on to different types of photography.  One of them is nature and I love it.  I enjoy early mornings and getting the right light for bird photography.

My posts will be a mix of different types of photos and I hope you will enjoy.
