Natures turn…….

Lean and Mean or Heavy and Happy

We made a trip to visit with my mother in-law this weekend.  Since there is always an abundance of small birds I decided to travel lean and mean with my D4 and 500mm.  Sure would like to have that decision back and instead travel with more gear – heavy and happy.  While walking around the property I notice by the garden that the bumble bees were in full pollination mode.  I don’t think I have seen that many bumble bees at any one time.

I would have preferred using the D800 and 105mm macro lens.  It would have allowed me to get closer with more mobility.  The 500mm wasn’t idle but I made due and ended up with a few keepers.  No birds, just bees made for a pretty good time.  Yes, heavy and happy next time.

Heavy and happy – I like that. Options can be wonderful.

I like it. Very cool shot David. The 500 makes a good macro lens.
