Natures turn…….

Cardinals – RAW / JPG

RAW / JPG / RAW / JPG, who’s right?  There are a lot of discussion forums, blogs and books with excellent reasons one way or the other.  I had a full day of taking JPG and another day for RAW.  I thought I would present three photo’s.  Just to give you a little help (out of the goodness of my heart), two are JPG and one RAW.  You be the judge……  Oh, by the way, I’m a RAW shooter.

All were shot using spot metering.  ISO ranged from 640 to 1400 and shutters 1/1000 to 1/2000.

All I know is that I saw the bird in my Reader and I thot who shot that amazing photo. Then I scrolled a little more and thot – should have known.

First: I like the series of photos. Nice background control and sharp focus on the eyes.

Second: I’m not getting sucked into the jpeg vs. raw debate. I shoot raw most of the time, even though at family events I might go with jpeg. Even then, if it’s a special occasion where I think they might want a family photo blown up large, as my relatives tend to do, I’ll go with raw.

You leave too much on the table by shooting jpeg, limiting yourself to fewer options when processing.
