Natures turn…….

Blue Bird – Perched

Finally, after trying all year I was able to get a few pictures of some blue birds.  It wasn’t for the lack of trying.  I just couldn’t get in a good position or close enough.  So, this time I ignored them and they came to me.  I think the grass being newly cut did the trick.  They feed on insects and this gave them a good opportunity to find some a little easier.  Hmmm, mow the grass and they will come.

Sweet shot David. Love that background, but color, angle of bird and pose are awesome. Caught it singing too. Good job waiting it out.

Nice all the way around and it must be satisfying after the wait. So I wonder what happens when I mow my grass … polar bears??

I like it. Good work David. Love the pose. Looks very good, especially for ISO 1250.

Thanks Tim. I can’t count the many ways I tried shooting them. I was having some problems with such a small bird and the distance. The lower shutter speed just wasn’t doing the job. So, I cranked up the ISO and got better static pictures. This picture was taken almost high noon with some pretty tuff light. This guy was the only one with real nice color. The others seem to be faded somewhat. Not sure why, perhaps it was just the light.

That’s one thing I’ve noticed with my 1DX also David. You can crank up the ISO pretty far in good light to get that shutter speed up with no noise issues at all.
