Funny. I can actually picture this bird thinking that after your other posts on the snake. Sharp focus, shallow DOF and great color.

Doug, I think the ones that had a sense he was over there came to this pool. But, still nervous. Before leaving to go there I made a adjustment with the 1.4tc. I need to tweak it again since I am picking up a slight front focus. Trying to move the subject to more of the middle DOF. Now I have to spend some time with the 2.0tc.

Doug, I use Lens Align MkII. For Nikon I use Camera Control Pro 2 and tethered to my laptop. I mark off so many feet out for my 500mm and place the Lens Align (making sure it’s aimed back at my lens. I take several shots moving the focus ring one way then focusing. If ok, I move the focus ring the other direction then focus again. Cable release is a must. I check the computer for each capture and make adjustments after getting the same result several times. I do set it up for jpeg fine quality, single shot and wide open f/4. There are a lot of different methods but this works for me. Oh, VR is OFF.
